This is the 8th song in a series of songs I've written relating to the unconventional gas industry which is rapidly expanding across Australia.
This song references three different yet influential speakers at different moments in history.
-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on the steps of the State Capitol in Montgomery, Alabama, after the Selma to Montgomery March on 25th March 1965
-Drew Hutton, at the 'Save Australia Day' concert beside the Newell Highway, Pilliga State Forest NSW on 26th January 2014
-Jesus, Galilee early 1st Century AD

How Long? Words and Music Copyright 2014 Luke Vassella
I heard the man who walked with the people
He spoke for justice without fear of evil
On the capital steps in Montgomery Alabama
Everybody was tired but he rang out like a hammer
How Long? No not long!
Cos truth crushed to earth, is gonna rise up strong
I heard the man who stood up for Australia
Against mining corruption and the governments failure
He spoke by the highway on Pilliga sand
Of a sustainable world, not the destruction of man
How Long? No not long
Cos no lie lives forever, people have to redeem what is wrong
Not all of our prayers, not all our petitions
Fall on the deaf ears of scared politicians
There are people who hear, there are people who see
We'll all give account in the next economy
How Long? Not Long!
Cos I heard the man who spoke to the nations
Of a kingdom that's built upon sure foundations
"Love God, love your neighbour, til I come back",
He said "Love is the law and the plan of attack!"
How Long? No not long!
Cos truth crushed to earth will rise up strong
I'm singing how long? No not long!
There's a new wind a blowin, and the truth is marching on and on and on!
